After thoroughly researching a variety of... read more tour options and itineraries, I decided to contact Graeme with Scotland's Stories Tours. Excluding a request to visit Glencoe and Iona Abbey, I allowed him free reign, and asked Graeme to fully plan the itinerary and my first visit to Scotland.
He went above and beyond to ensure my experience was informative, personal, and memorable!
From the moment my adventure began, it was evident Graeme had a deep knowledge and contagious enthusiasm for Scotland. His storytelling brought to life the history, myths, and legends that deepened the meaning of every site we visited throughout the two plus weeks. Throughout our visits to breathtaking landscapes (my favorite!), castles, ruins, and other historical sites, the tales of history and folklore were brought to life in his stories.

August 28, 2024 Brilliant experience! - When we were contemplating our family's trip to Scotland, we weren't sure how to make the most of our time. A friend suggested we connect with Graeme as she'd... read more had a fabulous time touring with him. We met with Graeme over Zoom and provided him with some general ideas of what we hoped to experience. From this basic information, Graeme created a fantastic two day itinerary that considered our interests as well as those of our 11 year old. Graeme also helped us plan the rest of our time in Scotland to ensure we experienced everything we hoped to. He made himself available for any questions we had, both before and during our trip. He was open to modifying our itinerary on the fly when opportunities presented themselves. Graeme is a kind, witty, and very knowledgeable person. The stories he shared with us brought the places we visited to life. We felt like we were exploring with a friend. It was clear that Graeme loves his country and wanted to share it with us. Having Molly adventuring with us was an added bonus. When reflecting on our trip, I asked our 11 year old what his favorite memory of Scotland was and he said, "seeing all the neat places with Graeme and hearing the stories. Oh, and spending time together as a family." I think continuously slipping Molly treats landed somewhere between those, though I don't think we were meant to know the extent that happened. When we have an opportunity to return to Scotland, we will definitely be looking to tour with Graeme again.

He was friendly, patient, accommodating, fun, thoughtful and full of knowledge about the history and stories of Scotland. This was definitely the highlight of our ten day trip to Scotland. Our only regret is that we didn’t book him for more days. Fantastic experience!
July 1, 2023 Sterling and Brilliant - We seized the opportunity for a private tour with bespoke tour guide Graeme Johncock with “Scotlands-stories”. Graeme communicated well over email and over Zoom. He listened to our vocations... read more and avocations and customized one day to the Scottish Highlands and a second day to the Scottish Lowlands. He blended our interests in engineering, history, arts, people and even agriculture.Throughout both days,
Graeme had unbounded energy and piqued our interests with vibrant and well-timed Scotland’s Stories. Moreover, he was a safe, smooth and courteous driver.
He maximized one day with the Falkirk Wheel, Kelpies tour, Stirling Castle, Highland Hairy Cows, a toast to Rob Roy, Glencoe and James Bond photo shoot, Fort William and Neptune’s Staircase, and even searched for Nessie! On our second day after Rosslyn Chapel, he surprised us with the Templar Cemetery. As we returned to the car, I spotted an important glass sculptor and modern glass engraver studio with the artist outside. She invited us in for a lovely and warm-hearted tour. Graeme sensed our level of interest and responded well with our diversion from our planned second day.
We give Graeme top marks and highly recommend his grand tour guiding and his extensive story telling services.
June 19, 2023 We were lucky enough to spend 3 days with Graeme in Sept 2022. He was the perfect, host, his love of Scotland shone through as he shared history, stories, and... read more answered my many questions. The depth of his knowledge of the country is astounding. We wanted to go to Achnacarry on our first day, which made for a very long day for him, but his kindness, wit and charm did not waver in the least. In the 3 days we spent with him he took us places we would have never even known to look for, which made the experience so special. He very quickly learned what each of us liked and adjusted each day to make sure we all had something special to look forward to. I have shared the story of our tour with many friends and even strangers and am always telling people that if they are going to Scotland they must have a tour with him and Molly, it's a truly life changing experience. I have been to Scotland many times, and I didn't think I could love it more than I already do, but spending the 3 days with Graeme has deepened my love for it & shown me a side of it that was heretofore unknown to me.
If you are going to Scotland, book a tour with Graeme, it will be the best travel decision you have ever made.
February 5, 2023 Just Book It! - Can’t recommend Graeme as a tour guide highly enough! My best friend and I spent 2 days of our 2 week trip with him and many of the things we... read more saw and did were the highlights of our whole trip. Graeme took time before our trip to video call and learn about the two of us, our interest, and why we were traveling to Scotland. He used that information to put together an incredible itinerary that felt personal and purposeful! He even went above and beyond and provided suggestions on places to visit when we weren’t with him. Besides taking over the logistics of planning the timing, route, and tickets, Grame is a great storyteller, historian, and welcoming individual. We had as much fun in the car as we did at the various locations!
Plus, Molly is the goodest of all good dogs!
